Graphic design is the avenue individuals, companies; nations use to convey a message. You see it everywhere you go; from the cave man days to the Gutenberg printing press created in 1440 in Western Europe, to contemporary times. The ultimate goal was to convey an idea or message.
Just about everyone has their own printing press in their own homes now called laser or ink jet printer. A movie poster conveys the message of go see a movie a website conveys a message of who you are or who your company is. Painting conveys a message of expression from the heart a message is still conveyed.
So, graphic design is a thought or and idea waiting to be written, painted drawn or computed with the with the intentions of conveying a message in a more powerful and effective way than just a hand written note.
